Frequently Asked Questions

We Get These A Lot

Do you offer a wholesale option?

Bailey Builds isn’t currently accepting wholesale orders.

Do you accept commissions?

We sure do! In fact, commissions make up about 15% of our business. If you’re interested, visit our commissions page for more info.

How do you make your pieces?

We’re so excited that you’re interested in making wood mosaics. We can tell you honestly that the most exciting part of creating anything is figuring out your own artistic process. So, even if we told you our process, it wouldn’t work the same for you. We encourage you to explore and create and find your own way. We look forward to seeing what you create!

Where do you get your wood?

We salvage it from many different places. We’ve used lathe and old wall studs, cedar playgrounds, decks, barn siding, subfloors, and so much more. The uniting trait is that the wood we salvage is old. We’re talking 40 to a 100 years old. Wood with character. When we create our pieces we mix this old wood with new wood, as new wood takes color better, provides greater visual contrast, and keeps our pieces lighter.

How heavy are the pieces?

We strive to keep them as light as possible while still retaining the artistry and structure signature to our work. For reference, our most popular size (24×48) is about 18 pounds.

How long have you been doing this?

Making things? Our whole lives. Wood mosaics? Since 2015. That’s the short answer. If you’re looking to learn more, check out our About Us page!

I want to know more about your dogs!

Sure, though technically that isn’t a question. Albert’s actually not so little at all, he’s well over 100 pounds at 8 month-old Newfoundland! He’s super sweet and kinda lazy. If you come across him in the store, feel free to step right over him, he likely won’t notice. Fair warning, though: he loves to lick. Oakley’s our 4-year-old Aussiedoodle, which is an Australian Shepherd and Poodle mix. That makes him crazy smart and eager to please. He loves hanging out in the shop, jumping from workbench to workbench. When we need a break we make him do weird tricks. We’re grateful he puts up with us.

Can I pet your dogs?

Of course! You can often find them at our shop, which is open …
